Welcome the Zeus of budget phones, the mighty Yu Yureka. Coming from the Micromax’s only online brand Yu Televentures (Micromax + Cyanogen), this phone is as brilliant as its name. With the recent monopoly of Micromax on the cyanogens branded phones, Yureka is getting its much-required momentum for sales. We know now for sure that Micromax is the sole mobile venture selling Cyanogen in India.

As for a head start let me begin by giving you quick specs and later we will in detail dissect each and every aspect of the phone. So it’s a 4G enabled Phablet with a 5.5 inch IPS panel display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. With 2GB of DDR3 RAM, it enables you high-speed multi-tasking. For the shutterbugs, there is a 13 MP camera with an amazing 5 MP front shooter.

LOOKS

With the 5.5 inch (13.97cm) display the phone stand out from the Micromax series of smartphones. The screen resolution is 1280 x 720 and it comes in Moonstone grey colour. It has a removable rear so there is no hassle in removing the battery. You will find two SIM card slots as well as microSD card slot while you remove the back cover.

Yu Yureka Mobile Features and Specification

Micromax has put in all the goodness in one phone. Powered by 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon processor everything functions without any lag. Now the cherry on the cake is the Octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. As far as the storage is considered Yureka offers 16 GB of storage out of which 12.8 GB is available for usage. But to save you from the trouble of space it offers an expandable storage up to 32 GB. Yureka also supports Cat 4G LTE with TDD 2300MHz and luckily these bands are supported in India.

With its high-end hardware, you can play almost all games without a single lag. There is 3.5mm audio jack at the top with power charging slot at the bottom. It comes with a 2500 mAh battery. The downside is that the phone gets overheated very quickly.

Camera and OS

It runs on Cyanogen’s 11 ROM and an Android 4.4 Kitkat version but both of them can be upgraded to the latest versions. That’s the one thing I like about the Cyanogen, it helps you to customize everything according to your needs. Secondly, I find Cyanogen to be more secure than the various other OS available in the market.

The camera is fabulous and astonishing. With 13MP Auto-focus rear camera and 5MP fixed focus front camera, the images have the clarity and sharpness which it requires. I am amazed how Yu Televentures can put so many features in this budget phone. The camera captures a good amount of light during daytime. It seems our Indian brand is giving a real tough time for its Chinese counterparts like Xiaomi, Gionee, etc.

Software

With One Plus One breaking its ties with Cyanogen, Micromax enjoys all the privilege. With the ability to customize according to its users need it becomes consumer friendly. Special apps such as Audio FX help in altering and modifying the audio output. Another app like Screen Cast lets you record screen navigation much like taking the screenshots in a video form.

But one app surely demands applause. That’s the “THEMES” app. It helps you to select themes. That’s not just it. You can take individual different theme aspects and create your own theme. For example, you like one aspect of a theme and other aspects of another theme then you can make an individual theme of yours with all the features. The settings menu offers a lot of tweaks which you will love like the double tap sleep mode, changing screen animation styles.

Finally, I would like to conclude that it is a brilliant phone to be available at a sub 10k range. Though Micromax hasn’t used any extensive advertising policies to sell this phone but surely it is a big hit. It is affordable and stands out among the other cheap Phablets due to its amazing performance.

Below is a person on hand experience by a Yureka mobile user:

Pros :

  • Low price for such a high end config phone
  • Camera performance is good
  • Music is awesome and the headset is also great for a good bass to handle with no distortion in sound
  • OTA system updates

Cons:

  • Phone gets heated a lot while charging which is something abnormal
  • Volume is less when speaking on headset and sometime on the phone speaker
